Carol Angela Davis, JD, is a media entrepreneur, journalist, professor, and pioneer in online and mobile media with the distinction of being one of the first online video bloggers in the U.S. (August 2000). She holds an A.B. in Political Science from Bryn Mawr College, a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, certification in Gamification from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, in business journalism from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she was a Reynolds Fellow and in Digital Journalism from the Dow Jones News Fund at Western Kentucky University. In 2016 she was selected to participate in the Scripps Howard Academic Leadership Academy and Hampton University awarded her its prestigious Academic Excellence Award for teaching and innovation in the design and delivery of course content.
Dr. Davis is the creator of ¡MPACT-Ed! TM – Impactful, Measurable, Personal and Collaborative Teaching for Engaging Education. These experiences have included reality television content and the 2012 and 2016 national political conventions where students work in politics, journalism, strategic communication and public relations. Her work and research is based in game theory and involves wrapping pedagogy in civic engagement experiences to create a holistic educational environment for today’s student. Her premise is two-fold: first these experiences can offer education experiences that are multidisciplinary in scope and life-changing for the student; second, some opportunities can become future profit centers for colleges and universities. As an entrepreneur, her Los Angeles based enterprise was an early entry in online content distribution. Dr. Davis supported the global distribution of television and film content for hundreds of independent content providers, including celebrities. As a former writer, producer and reporter for Chicago’s WGN- TV News and her proprietary online daily news programs: It’s About Finance, The Justice System and Vote Across America, Dr. Davis was among the first to generate revenue on the web using video based content. She has interviewed hundreds of CEO’s from the floors of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade and through her reporter platforms at the Nasdaq, AMEX, and New York Stock Exchange. Separately, she managed national and global media for Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos during the second trial of pop star Michael Jackson where he was acquitted of all charges.
She is married, the mother of two adult children and the author of children’s books “Itty Bitty Kitty,” “The Fool from Bonderpool (He Wouldn’t Go to School!),” and “Teeth Have Feelings Too! So Brush Them!”
